Are Starfish Project products hypoallergenic?
Yes, all Starfish items are lead- and cadmium-free with nickel content less than 100 ppm. Many of our pieces are 14-18K gold ionic plated stainless steel.
Where do you deliver?
Everywhere. We offer worldwide shipping at international shipping rates.
Does Starfish Project restock all of its pieces?
Our products are restocked based on customer demand and material availability. When you see a piece that is out of stock, you can click the button that says “email me to be notified when back in stock" and share your email address to ensure you will be updated when it is restocked. We also love to receive feedback on which products you would like to see more of, so please email us at email@example.com.
Orders and Shipping
What forms of payment does Starfish Project accept?
We accept all types of credit card payments as well as PayPal.
Do I have to pay sales tax on my Starfish Project order?
All items sold by Starfish Project and shipped within the United States are subject to sales tax. Sales tax is charged per item (including shipping) rather than on the subtotal and is based on the "ship to" zip code.
The website won't let me check out.
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell us what device you’re using (laptop, desktop, cell phone) and what browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc.). That will help us troubleshoot the issue as quickly as possible.
Can I modify my order?
If your order needs to be changed please contact us at email@example.com as soon as possible. We will do our best to make the change before your order ships. Please include your order number and the items you would like to change. If the order has already shipped, it cannot be modified and you have 30 days from the date of purchase to return your Starfish Project jewelry.
Can I cancel my order?
If you need to cancel your order, please contact us as soon as you can at firstname.lastname@example.org to prevent your order from being shipped. Our shipping volunteers are quick! We will do our best to cancel your order if it hasn't been shipped already. If your order has already gone in the mail, you can return the items within 30 days of the date of purchase for a full refund less the return shipping.
How much does shipping and handling cost?
US Orders: For purchases within the United States, there is a $6.00 flat rate shipping fee. Orders over $75.00 receive FREE shipping. Once your order is placed online, we ship from our distribution center in the United States within 1-2 business days. All shipping options are flat rate, so why not scoop up another beautiful piece of jewelry for yourself or a friend?
International Orders: Customers shipping to International locations can select from multiple shipping options (USPS, UPS, DHL) presented at checkout. If selecting USPS, we highly recommend confirming they currently ship to your location, as this can vary. Please note: International orders may be subject to taxes and duty fees upon delivery. These fees are the responsibility of the customer and Starfish Project is unable to refund customers for abandoned packages.
How do I use a coupon code?
After adding beautiful pieces to your shopping cart, click on “view cart,” then enter the coupon code in the box under “coupon.”
What if I didn't receive an email confirmation for my order?
If you did not receive an email confirmation, please email us at email@example.com with your first and last name and we will get back to you.
Can I change my shipping address on my order?
If your shipping address needs to be changed please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. We will do our best to make the change before your order ships. Please include your order number and new address in your email. If the order has already shipped you have 30 days from the date of purchase to return your Starfish Project jewelry.
How will my Starfish Project purchase arrive?
Your purchase will arrive in our signature Starfish Project packaging with a hand-signed sticker or card from the women who helped create it. The style and size of your pieces of jewelry determine the size and shape of the Starfish Project boxes they're packaged in. If you prefer not to receive our circle boxes, please leave a note during the check out process. Your purchase will also arrive without prices listed on the jewelry boxes or on the packing note.
Can I order a Starfish Project gift card?
Yes. Please select "gift card" in the drop down menu under the "Shop" tab.
When will I receive my order?
US Orders: All Starfish Project orders are shipped via USPS First-Class Mail with tracking numbers and typically arrive within 3-7 business days.
International Orders: Your orders are shipped based upon the customers selection at checkout. Starfish Project provides tracking numbers and the items typically arrive within 7-14 business days, depending on customs.
If your order has not arrived in the time frame listed above, let us know by emailing us with your name and order number at email@example.com. We will make sure you get your beautiful jewelry made by the women at Starfish Project.
Returns and Exchanges
What is Starfish Project's return policy?
If you are dissatisfied with your online order, you can return your items for a refund within 30 days of the original purchase date. Items must be returned in original packaging. Original shipping/handling charges are non-refundable and the return shipping/handling fees are the responsibility of and paid for by the consumer.
Starfish Project Inc. warrants all our products to be free from defect in design, material and workmanship for one year from original purchase date. If, during the warranty period, a product fails under normal use, Starfish Project Inc. will replace/refund the product.
All returns require the following:
- Order number or packing slip
- Name of purchaser
- Date of purchase

Purchases made through a third party vendor must be returned through that vendor.
How do I return a Starfish Project item?
Contact email@example.com with the order number, name of purchaser and date of purchase so we are aware of your return request. Mail your jewelry in its original packaging with the packing slip to the address below:

Return postage is the responsibility of the customer. Original shipping & handling charges are non-refundable for all orders.
My jewelry is broken.
We guarantee our jewelry for one year from the date of purchase. If your jewelry has broken within a year of your purchase date please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will replace it. If the broken piece is out of stock, we will credit you a gift certificate for the same amount.
I received the wrong item or an item is missing from my order.
Please email us with your order number and the name and quantity of the missing or incorrect item at email@example.com. We will get that corrected and shipped to you right away.

What types of vocational training do the women receive while working at Starfish Project?
Each incredible woman who joins Starfish Project begins on our production line, receiving on-the-job training in jewelry production. Based on each woman's individual interests and gifting, she can then be trained in other roles at Starfish Project, including photography, design, sourcing, quality control, inventory management, administration and other management positions. Additionally, each woman has the opportunity to join our training program with classes in computer, literacy, math, life skills and health. Every woman has the opportunity to earn certification in Microsoft Word and Excel. Depending on her interests and her personal growth plan, she can choose to pursue additional training in English, entrepreneurship, accounting, photography, graphic design and even banking. The goal of our training program is to offer the women of Starfish the freedom to choose a career path they are passionate about and can be proud of.
When Starfish Project offers women a way out, why don't more women leave right away?
Many of the women we meet on our weekly outreach have been tricked into working in the brothels, and it takes time for us to gain their trust. We have also found that, due to the emotional and physical abuse they have experienced, many of the women do not think it is possible to change their lives. They are often bound by a sense of shame and have resigned themselves to a life without hope. Through your purchases, we are able to make consistent visits that speak to each woman's value and build towards hope.
How old are the women who come to Starfish Project?
Most of the women who have come to work at Starfish Project are 18-25, although we have some woman in their 30s and 40s. We have met girls in the brothels as young as 12-years-old.
How long do women typically stay in the Starfish Project shelter?
Our standard program is two years. After two years, we offer a housing allowance to empower the women of Starfish to live independently and take greater responsibility for their lives. Starfish Project is committed to long-term, ongoing employment for every woman, so we offer continued employment after they move out of the shelter. Every woman’s situation can vary according to her needs, but that is our typical track.
Is Starfish Project a Fair Trade business?
Where do the profits of Starfish Project jewelry sales go?
All revenue from jewelry sales goes back to our mission of restoring hope to trafficked women. We are a 501c3, and all funds help provide our holistic care and vocational training programs.
Does Starfish Project receive any funding from any other sources besides the profits from jewelry sales?
Yes, our Holistic Care and Vocational Training programs are supported by generous foundations and individuals. Our business costs including our women’s salaries are covered 100% by our jewelry sales. You can donate toward our Holistic Care program here. Your gift will directly impact the lives of trafficked women.
Why doesn't Starfish Project reveal where they are specifically located?
In order to protect the women we work with, and due to the sensitivity of the issue of exploitation, we are not able to disclose our location.
